Step by Step Guide to Fixing a RV Vent Fan (in Under 10 Minutes)

 

Fixing a vent fan might seem like a daunting task, but it’s a very manageable project. Vent fans are essential for maintaining air quality and removing excess moisture from spaces like kitchens and bathrooms. How to complete the fix

  1. remove the screen exposing the dead fan motor
  2. remove the plastic fan from motor
  3. remove the wires from the top side of the fan motor
  4. remove screws from the bottom of the fan motor releasing the fan motor from the bracket and then remove the wire disconnect from switch
  5. if you haven’t ordered the new fan yet here is where you can find the information to order the new one. on the back of the old fan details will be engraved and you can match it to one on amazon. this was the one we needed.
    1. once you have the new motor, you will need a medium sized wire nut and a 22-18 gauge female wire disconnect
  6. remove the plastic insert from the roof allowing access to the white wire (neutral) which is tucked under the roof and connected with a crimped wire nut
  7. remove the old neutral wire and pull the old fan neutral off
  8. install new fan by screwing it into the bracket
  9. run new neutral wire behind the plastic shielding and connect all the neutral wires other with the new twist on wire nut
  10. press on the new female wire disconnect and connect to the switch
  11. press on the fan blades and turn on the switch to make sure it works
  12. install the plastic insert back into the fan hole and screw it to the roof
  13. install the bug screen and press it into the clips
